So it’s been 3 months since my last post. You could say things got a little mixed up around here.
Soon after I returned from North Carolina, I quit my job at the German restaurant. Then David was put on administrative leave from the fire department. Two weeks later, he was terminated over accusations against him (and our family, including our kids) that we harassed a volunteer at the department. Basically, the whole thing was a horrible witch hunt. We tried to appeal and the city said no. So that’s that in Cliff Note’s version.
On the plus said, we are completely done with our bankruptcy. We received our discharge paperwork and that nightmare is behind us. Our lawyer’s firm was wonderful. If by chance you find yourself needing a bankruptcy lawyer, and you live in the DFW area, let me know. Vida Law Firm took care us and cared for us.
With David being let go, we were able to become completely debt free. It’s been a long uphill battle, but we did it.
DEBT FREE BABY!
So, same day David was laid off officially, I started a new job at a restaurant. The boys are doing amazingly awesome at school. AND – just this past Tuesday, Joshua accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and will be baptized on December 16 at our new church home. God has been doing amazing things for my family since we lost David’s position at the fire department. It’s been unreal to watch God do these things throughout our turmoil. We’ve felt much like Job, from the Bible. God told Satan that he could do whatever he wanted to Job, except kill him. And that Job would praise God regardless of what comes his way from Satan. Job lost everything. His homestead, his family, everything. And that’s how we feel. Like Job. But God is continually blessing us and we are continually blessing him.
For Thanksgiving we were able to drive to North Carolina to see my parents. It was a wonderful trip and we got to celebrate Kimber’s 3rd birthday!
We got to enjoy my parent’s beautiful home and pond and fish like crazy. David caught a 5 pound catfish that we ate later that night for dinner. We got to have family and my best-friend and her daughter come over and help us celebrate Kimber’s 3rd birthday. And we got to go to my cousin’s house for Thanksgiving with the family. But most importantly, we all got to spend some amazing time with my mom.
This woman amazes me more and more everyday. She’s made amazing progress since her whole brain radiation treatment she finished back in August. She still has some effects from the radiation but she is doing awesome. Unfortunately, during our visit, it came to light that there is a smallish tumor in her right upper lung that she will have removed next week. There was concern that it was possibly the lung cancer that caused the brain tumors, and to determine that, last week she had a brain biopsy. The brain biopsy showed that the tumors are dead so there was no way of telling, but the doctors did the right thing by immediately starting her on the massive doses of steroids and radiation. Her strength just amazes me. And the kids LOVED getting to see her and spend time with her.
So, until then, we keep on trucking. Christmas is right around the corner. I hope everyone remembers the true meaning and doesn’t get too wrapped up in the other stuff. I’m sure I’m missing a bunch of stuff here, but hopefully I’ll be able to update when I can.
Love to all. And may God bless you. Because He’s surely blessing us!
